Canine genocide in Continental Europe – ethnic cleansing of any breed of dog possessing the word "Bull" as part of its name.
As you are aware, the situation in Germany regarding the introduction of breed-specific legislation has vast implications for all dog lovers. The German Parliament are now petitioning other EU Member States in an attempt to introduce Europe-wide legislation which will have consequences for all of us. As dog lovers we have to stand up an be counted – we must voice our opinions, and we must voice them NOW – tomorrow will be too late!! The best way (at the moment) to voice your opinion is by lobbying your MP and MEP, as well as the German Parliament & the UK German Ambassador.
Please make everyone aware of this issue and what is at stake.

A lobbying letter is at its most effective if it is neatly hand written, expressing your views in your own words – however, it should not contain obscenities. Would you please read and consider the following information:
The Staffordshire Bull Terrier is the only breed of dog registered by the UK Kennel Club which states that breed is "highly intelligent and affectionate especially with children" as well as "…totally reliable" as part of the Breed Standard (Characteristics & Temperament clauses).
The Staffordshire Bull Terrier, along with all "Bull Breeds" registered by the Kennel Club are essentially family pets who have committed no crime.
The UK Kennel Club registered breeds that have been persecuted by the German Government (including Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Bull Terrier, Bull Mastiff, Mastiff, Neapolitan Mastiff and Rhodesian Ridgeback) are all well established, and are certainly not considered to be "fighting dogs" or a threat to public safety by the UK Government. The Staffordshire Bull Terrier, which has been listed as a "category one" breed by the German Government, is one of the most popular breeds of family dogs in the UK and is widely considered to be an ideal family pet.
There is little, if any, evidence of biting incidents, in Germany or the UK, attributable to genuine Staffordshire Bull Terriers but the breed has been persecuted by the German Government purely because of their name contains the word "Bull".
Please tell me why you have condemned various breeds of dog when none of that particular breeds individual representatives have done anything wrong?
Why are you punishing the innocent who have not been proven guilty?
Owners should be held responsible – not entire breeds of dog.
Whilst I agree that something must be done about biting incidents involving aggressive dogs I think that the introduction of breed-specific legislation is a serious error of judgement. The UK Dangerous Dogs Act (1991) has proven to be both unworkable and expensive. Banning specific dog breeds is NOT the solution to the problem of dogs attacking people – please punish the PEOPLE responsible for their dog’s actions.
You are in a position to right this wrong – please consider the genuine facts and evidence before supporting any anti-dog legislation which will distress thousands of family pets and their owners.
